For photographers, there may be no better time than autumn to capture the magic of Acadia National Park. Each year, thanks in part to the 1947 wildfire, Acadia becomes a nature photographer’s paradise as the seemingly endless stands of Colleen Miniuk-Sperry birch, beech, aspen, maple, ash, and oak trees show off a colorful palette of rich reds, vibrant golds, and brilliant oranges.
Join us on this unforgettable photography workshop, where you’ll have the chance to capture iconic photographs synonymous with Acadia - the rising sun Jack Jordanfrom Cadillac Mountain, John D. Rockefeller’s historic carriage roads, and the classic Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse – at the height of fall colors. You’ll also have the chance to explore lesser known but equally photogenic locations like Day Mountain and Southwest Harbor.
Through a combination of hands on, field based shoots and classroom image critique sessions, you’ll learn tips and tricks for working with the varying moods, weather, and light Acadia presents to capture a broad portfolio of stunning nature photographs of this diverse park.
With outdoor photographer and former three-time Acadia Artist-in-Residence, Colleen Miniuk-Sperry, as your guide, you’ll be in the right places at the best times to catch luminous fall colors, thunderous waves crashing against the rocky shoreline, and inspiring historical locations across Acadia at their very best.
